It is with great sadness that I share the news of the death of Mrs. Harrison, much loved colleague, teacher and Principal of The Forest View Academy.   After a short battle with cancer Mrs. Harrison died suddenly in the early hours of Sunday 20th July 2025.

As an academy we are both shocked and saddened by this tragic news and our thoughts are with family and friends at this difficult time. Mrs Harrison’s warmth and commitment to the children and wider community of Ollerton touched many lives.  We know her loss will be felt keenly across the community, not least of all by the children she supported, encouraged and taught.

Mrs Harrison a long-standing teacher and Deputy Head at the academy became Principal in 2018.  Passionate about teaching and learning she united the team around a vision of high expectations and aspiration challenging children to “dream big” while at the same time championing and supporting her staff to continue to grow and learn in their own careers.  Those that knew her will also have valued her honesty, straightforwardness and a sometimes wicked sense of humour.

As well as academic success, Mrs. Harrison understood the importance of developing the whole child and would stress the importance of building resilience, confidence and the ability to establish positive relationships.  She ensured a range of opportunities were available to pupils including sporting events, residential visits and opportunities to engage with the wider community.  She continued fighting for the best outcomes for children even as her health began to decline, working tirelessly for all children regardless of starting points to get the best possible deal to “become the best version of themselves”.

In short Mrs Harrison will be greatly missed. However, the ripples from the positive work she did, the relationships she built the children and staff she inspired will continue.

Kind Regards
