After school today saw the first meeting of the Little Designers Club. For our meeting we were joined by Stephen Michaels from Making It, who are providing the grant to help make our plans happen.
Stephen spoke to the group about what the project will entail and how we are going to make it happen. We explored how Forest View are aiming for Rights Respecting School status, how we learn about the world and our global identity and what Forest View do within the community.
Next we looked at an example of a piece of work that another school had produced and the idea that we would like to create a piece of sculpture for the academy grounds. The group have a small piece of homework to research a male and female British sculptor and the sculpture that they have produced. For next week, the design team are going produce a short presentation to share with each other.
Before we finished we went on a site visit to gain an idea where we would like to place the final piece of sculpture and why. Sophie suggested that the piece of grass between the path by Class Canada and the route to Maun Infants would be good as it has an unobstructed view from the road and both paths. Other sites, such as in front of Class Brazil, were dismissed as being too busy with a poor view from the road and the area in front of Mr Worthington’s office was seen as not having a good view from the road.
Miss Pearson and Mrs Bee will be running drop in lunch time sessions on Tuesday and Thursday to see how the project is progressing.
