In Year Three, we have an exciting and challenging curriculum, which encourages us to become independent learners. In our classroom, we have a positive learning environment, which helps us to achieve and exceed our potential. Mrs Bee, Mrs McCarthy and Mrs Pearce are sure Year 3 will be an exciting year for all of us in Year Three, as we have many interesting and engaging topics to learn about.
As things are at the moment we will be using Purple Mash, Times Tables Rock Stars and email to keep you all up to date with our plans for this term.
The topics we were planning to teach are:
DT – Bread around the world
RE – inspirational people and prayer
Geography – exploring the UK
Science – Plants and Humans
Computing – Touch typing
Maths – Fractions, Time, Properties of shape, Mass and Capacity
Our topic for this term is Walk Like Egyptian. Miss Rylatt will be joining our team this term, as Mrs McCarthy spends more time in her SENCo role. Our working this term will involve exploring the ancient Egyptian culture, learning about mummification, gods, pharaohs and pyramid building, as well as all of our workin in other subjects. In art art we will be learning how to paint water which will complement our geography work on the River Nile. We will be inviting parents into school at the end of term to celebrate all our hard work with a class assembly, as well as looking forward to our residential.
Our topic for this term is Stones and Bones. This exciting topic will begin with a trip to Creswell Crags; we will explore the caves and learn how humans lived thousands of years ago! In English, we will be exploring many Stone Age stories, including The Croods! Our science topic is all about rocks ans soils as well as light, we will be sampling soil and finding out about the geological make up of our local environment. Our art will link closely with our topic as we look at Andy Warhol and create some Stone Age animal prints. This term will be full of fun and exciting new things we can learn together, we can’t wait to get started.
