Today, at Forest View Junior, we enjoyed the honour of having a ‘real-life’ author in our setting. Luke Temple, author of the Felix Dashwood series, came in to regale us of the adventures that his character encountered in his books. We found out that Felix is a girl with two friends, Casper and Drift, who help her solve the mysteries.
Luke made the afternoon really interactive with children helping him to act out the scenes from his Felix’s mysteries…we had lots of fun acting as characters or props to help set the scene. Everyone was desperate to be chosen to be an actor!
Luke showed a video of his previous life and what inspired him to become an author: it showed the process of thinking of ideas and getting these ideas down on paper. He was very honest when he told us he often wants to give up and ‘rip’ his ideas up. Like many of us, he talked about persevering to finally finish and write his final and edited version that he sends to his publisher.
We enjoyed the opportunity of asking Luke our very own questions about his life before becoming an author and we asked many questions about the life of a popular author…it appears that we have many budding authors at Forest View who were inspired by Luke’s visit.
