This year’s World Book Day saw the staff dressed as a dictionary and the children dressing a a huge range of book characters including many Roald Dahl creation, the Boy In the Stripped Pyjamas and plenty of appearances from Harry Potter and friends.
During the day the children took part in a quiz linked to the staff’s dictionary entries, finding a definition, the word class, a synonym, an antonym and adding prefix and suffix where possible. Some staff chose words linked to their character or role in school others picked tricky words to read. There was everything from babble, candid, emoji, flamingo, hyperbole, innocuous, lavish, phenomenal, quay, referee and uniform.
Each class studied a book during the day, shared reasons behind their costume choices, designed book marks and created a wide range of stunning work. There was also a pop up book shop and a chance to donate and buy a new book.
Thank you to Mrs McClymont our English leader for another successful day.
