The half term started with the Handball County Finals held at The Harvey Hadden Stadium in Nottingham. This was a very competitive event with 16 teams in attendance from across the county. We played all day in various games finishing 13th which doesn’t sound great but 13th in the whole county is pretty good!
The girls’ Futsal team have been busy too playing 2 games with 2 weeks. We didn’t win either tournament but enjoyed the experience and the girls came away feeling positive.
Then it was on to the Dukeries Cross Country Challenge. Mr Clarke took a group of pupils to take part from across the academy. We did amazingly well especially our older pupils who won some of their races out of 10 runners. 5 schools took part, we came a respectable 3rd (just 1 point behind 2nd place who were Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy).
The girls had more football to play. This time at Mansfield Town FC on their 3G pitch. They played in a number of games winning 1 game and drawing the rest. It wasn’t quite enough though to qualify for the next round. However, a super experience.
This half term has seen 2 tennis festivals held at Caunton Tennis Club. Over the 2 events we have taken 40 children to have a go at some tennis style activities and give them opportunity to develop their game. Both afternoons have been great fun.
In terms of league football we have played both Samuel Barlow and King Edwin Primary this half term. The girls lost to Samuel Barlow 4-2 and the boys lost 4-3, just conceding a penalty in the last 30 seconds. The boys lost to King Edwin 9-1 but still came away having enjoyed the game of football.
We have also taken part in a Boccia event this half term at the Dukeries and the Netball finals concluded the half term which was held at Barnby Road in Newark. Always a competitive event, we came middle of the table with 8 teams there from across Newark and Sherwood.
Mr Clarke (our sports leader) and all of the staff are so proud of what the children continue to achieve in sport at Forest View.
We now look forward to another busy half term of sport as we move into some Summer sports.
