Year 5 Visit to The Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Dear Parents/Carers

Year 5 are really looking forward to the final school term. Our topic for summer term is ‘Sensational South America’, alongside this, our new Science topic will be ‘Living Things and their Habitats’.  We believe that the best way for the children to understand the new topic will be to see a range of animals and to discuss the appropriateness of their habitat.

We would therefore like to take the children on a trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park.  They will have the opportunity to meet wild animals from lions and tigers to polar bears.  There is also a specific area called ‘South America Viva’. We feel this would be a great experience and would offer more opportunity to investigate about South American animals and their habitats, outside of the classroom.

The academy will be subsidising some of the cost of the trip therefore there will be a charge of £11.75 per child.  However we believe that the experience will be of huge benefit to the children in understanding more about the topic and will help them create imaginative pieces of writing when we return to the classroom.

As we are planning for the trip to take place in July we would like to see whether there is enough interest in the trip to warrant booking it.  We would appreciate a response by Friday 04 May, indicating whether you would be willing to support this trip as it would help us to make the decision as to whether it can go ahead.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely

Miss H Peck/Mrs Tomlinson/Miss Marshall
