Finally, with weather permitting we were able to celebrate world book day today.
The children looked absolutely fantastic, every class made a super effort to dress up in a variety of costumes. There was the usual collection of Wallys being ably led by Mrs Harrison as chief Wally but the Jet Setters can claim the prize for the most Wallys today. It was obvious where Wally was, he was everywhere. Class Ireland were taken over by Umpa Lumpas, whilst every year six class had an Alice or two. Class India resembled Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as Harry and Hermione arrived en masse. There were lots of Roald Dahl characters too.
Each year group’s teachers choose a book and dressed as a team. The Year Three staff came as Aliens Love Underpants by Claire Freedman, Year Four were Thing One, Thing Two and the Cat in the hat, Year Six dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland including Alice, the Mat Hatter and one of the cards. However, the prize for the most creative team certainly goes to Year 5 and their very inventive Very Hungry Catapillar by Eric Carle.
Mrs McClymont our English leader, had organised lots of different activities but the most popular one of the day was the pop-up book shop. Thank you to the many children who sent in a book donation, we received over 300 books, so everyone had the chance to buy a new book to take home.
All in all it was a super day.
